Last year I decided embroidery is more than just a silly temporary hobby for me. I wanted to take it to the next level.
So, I took an embroidery course by Liza Smirnova, Russian artist located in Moscow. I was following her forever on Instagram and had admired her work – at least from the moment I saw one of her embroideries on the cover of Seasons magazine.
What you see here is my final project for that (6 week-long) course. It took me about 2 weeks to finish this portrait and I enjoyed every second of it. Well okay, maybe not… Working on the background was a pain in the ass. But I needed to cover the incredibly ugly flowers printed on the dress.
However, it is finished now, and my boyfriend helped me to photograph it this morning on snowy streets of Moscow.
